The completed work will provide a new sodium hydroxide (caustic) system to the front or headworks of the Miramar Water Treatment Plant providing flexibility to adjust the pH accommodating the purified water source being added to Miramar Reservoir by the Pure Water Program. This includes: Sodium hydroxide (caustic) pumps, Discharge Pipeline from the new caustic pumps routed through the existing concrete pipe trench with removable concrete lids, eventually terminating with a caustic surface feed in the raw water settling channel at the front of the plant before the deaeration chamber, Addition of an emergency shower and eyewash station with platform, Routing potable water line from admin building to eyewash station, and Process control, instrumentation, communication and signals systems and connection to existing MWTP SCADA system.
