This project will consist of replacement and reconstruction of the approximately 2,871-foot-long, ABA accessible, raised timber boardwalk trail (6-feet wide) that was completely destroyed during flash flooding on August 5, 2022. The project also includes removal of remaining portions of damaged and displaced boardwalk from sensitive environmental areas including wilderness, reconstructing the trailhead parking lot, and reconstructing a 400-foot section of roadway with special rock embankment. The boardwalk alignment will be placed in a modified alignment to follow the new post-flashflood stream course (August 2022 and Tropical Storm Hillary August 2023 events). Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
