Federal funding has been provided to Sierra County to work with Tahoe National Forest, Yuba Ranger District, to reduce hazardous vegetative and fuels conditions along key access roads to provide safe and reliable ingress and egress in the event of a wildfire. The goals of this project are to implement roadside thinning along critical ingress/egress routes within Sierra County consistent with this prioritization. Funding for this project is valid through 2025 though Sierra County desires implementation to be complete prior to March 31, 2025. Work to be Completed: With this Request for Proposals ("RFP"), the COUNTY of SIERRA ("COUNTY") seeks experienced and qualified firm(s) or team(s) of firms to provide fuel reduction and forest health services including 1) 31 acres of falling, yarding, processing, decking, chipping, and log/chip haul as per APPENDIX A(2) Schedule of Items and Specifications, APPENDIX F Timber Removal Specifications, and APPENDIX G Guidelines for Operations. The project units are located at various locations along Mountain House Road within Sierra County as shown on APPENDIX C. This is a service contract, with all logs delivered to the purchasing mill and timber receipts will be retained by County of Sierra. All work listed within this RFP must be completed during the period from November 1, 2024 to February 28, 2025 in accordance with Appendix I, the Outside Normal Operating Season Standards.
