The City is seeking qualified contractors to reconstruct the surround area of Rachel at the Well, also known as The Spirit of Fort Myers at the entrance to the Edison Park neighborhood off McGregor Boulevard. Both Rachel and the surround were damaged during Hurricane Ian. Rachel herself has been restored but the surround remains damaged. City crews have removed the debris and salvaged two obelisks for use by the selected contractor in replicating for replacement. The work generally consists of the reconstruction of two columns by installing new structural superstructure on the existing decorative masonry bases; fabricating and installing new wrought iron decorative fence with finials on top of masonry wall to mimic damaged fence; rehabilitation of existing stucco including patching holes, cleaning, repairing cracks and painting; adding new lighting fixtures per provided light fixture schedule; replacing existing electrical panel; installing new receptacles; and installing new floratam sod and irrigation between arches and curb ramps. All construction shall be in accordance with the construction drawings, building permits and approvals from the City's Historic Preservation Council. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
