This is a Request for Proposals (RFP) for interested vendors that possess the experience, expertise and proven record to provide management and pine straw raking of 530 acres of longleaf pine stands at the Shoal River property in northern Okaloosa County. Acreage management includes chemical and mechanical treatment that would control the underbrush that is affecting the collection process of pine straw. Chemical treatment includes spraying appropriate herbicide to remove unwanted hardwood vegetation species that is competing for resources with the longleaf pines. Then, mechanical treatment includes mowing in between the rows of the longleaf pines and removing the weeds and shrubs by hand if necessary. After the stands have been cleared of the unwanted vegetation, collection of pine straw may be done by hand, raking or baling. Raking and baling may be done with a tractor drawn rake or baler. The straw that is collected is then made into bales to be picked up by hand and placed into trucks and delivered to the vendor’s facilities. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
