Work to be done under this contract shall consist of improvements to the Sumner Avenue corridor and abutting intersections starting in the Forest Park neighborhood of Springfield. The project begins at the Sumner Avenue intersection with Churchill Street and goes approximately 3,400 feet east to the intersection with Daytona Street. The Belmont Avenue segment begins just northwest of its intersection with Burlington Street and runs approximately 1,650 feet south to the intersection with Ormond Street. The Dickinson Street segment begins at the intersection with Burlington Street and runs south approximately 1,050 feet to the intersection with Cliftwood Street. Side streets that are encompassed within this project area include Cliftwood Street, Lenox Street, Ormond Street, Burlington Street, Oakland Street, and Commonwealth Avenue. Associated work shall include traffic pattern modifications, new traffic signal installations, new traffic signal coordination, provision of 5’ bicycle lanes, widening of sidewalks to shared-use paths, reconstruct and reconfigure sidewalks, pedestrian facility and accessibility upgrades, bus stop and shelter upgrades, replacement of street lighting, furnishings and landscaping, auxiliary lane additions, installation of pedestrian plazas with accent lighting, and providing all incidental materials and labor necessary for operation of the traffic control signals in accordance with the project plans and specifications.
