The Town of Carrboro is inviting artists to apply to design and install a mural on the exterior of The 203 Building garage. The address of the building is 203 Greensboro St. Carrboro, NC 27546. The mural will be situated off Maple Ave on the side of the parking garage. The 203 Building is the future home of Carrboro Recreation, Parks and Cultural Resources; Orange County Southern Branch Library; Orange County Skills Development Center; WCOM Radio; a teen center and performance/multipurpose uses. The new facility will include parking deck with 171 vehicle parking spaces and 70 bike parking spots. Mural Description/Theme: The mural shall be specifically designed for the location and represent the vibrant nature of the community. Up to three to five images of the prior work or large-scale projects including the locations, size, and sponsoring organizations (if applicable) and a written narrative (no more than one page) describing proposed concept of the design shall be submitted for consideration. Please include contact information for sponsoring information. The section outlined above is 73’ wide by 10’ high (rough average height as it varies) All or most of the mural should fit within the section of the wall outlined in the photo. The mural shall be permanently affixed to the concrete surface and use materials suitable to withstand the elements for many years to come. All scaffolding, ladders, lifts, etc. will be the responsibility of the artist as well as supplies necessary to complete the project and clean-up of the site post installation.
