The Bedford County Department of Parks and Recreation is soliciting proposals to design and build a new Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Accessible Playground with a play surface at Falling Creek Park, located at 1257 County Farm Road, Bedford, VA 24523. This will be a new facility near our existing playground facilities at the park. Base Proposal: A) Design a new ADA accessible playground at the location specified below with a maximum budget of $200,000 including equipment, surfacing, and installation. The design shall include everything specified below. The Americans with Disabilities Act shall be as in effect upon contract execution. B) Play equipment should be a jungle gym type with a ramp for ADA accessibility, to include a minimum of one or more slide(s) and as many ADA accessible play features as possible. Outer features and creativity of the design to create an environment ADA accessible but enjoyable for kids from 5 to 12 years old is highly desirable. C) The surface shall be of the “pour in place” type or equivalent. It shall cover all the area needed from the sidewalk to the play structure for safety fall zone. It is expected that design shall include proper thickness and outer fall zone area to meet industry safety standards. D) GIS Photo in bid documents show available area for installation in the Park: a. Area is approximately 60’ W by 70’ D.
