The work consists of removing all trees/brush and reshaping ditches along Sandy Hollow Rd. in order to establish positive drainage. 2.1 GRADING AND SHAPING DITCHES Description. This work shall conform to Section 214 of the Standard Specifications This work shall consist of the grading and shaping of existing ditches to reestablish positive drainage as shown in the plans and at the direction of the Project Manager. Method of Measurement. This work will be measured for payment per foot. Basis of Payment. This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per foot for GRADING AND SHAPING DITCHES. 2.2 TREE CLEARING AND GRUBBING Description. This work shall consist of the cutting, grubbing, removal and disposal of trees and stumps in the locations and to the limits outlined on the Plans. Construction. This work will be performed in accordance with Articles 201.04-201.05 and 201.07- 201.09 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Method of Measurement. This work will be measured for payment per the requirements of Article 201.10(b)(2) of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. This work will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in acres. Basis of Payment. This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per acre for TREE CLEARING AND GRUBBING. 2.3 STONE RIPRAP, CLASS B3 2.4 FILTER FABRIC Description. This work shall consist of the installation of filter fabric, bedding, and riprap in the locations and to the lines and grades identified on the Plans Construction. This work will be performed per the requirements of Articles 281.03, 281.04(a), 281.05, and 282.03-282.07 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Riprap shall be Class B3 meeting the requirements of Article 1005.01 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Riprap bedding shall be coarse aggregate with gradation CS-02 meeting the requirements of Article 1004.07 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction or riprap Class B3 meeting the requirements of Article 1004.07 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Riprap and bedding shall be constructed to the thicknesses identified on the Plans Filter fabric shall meet the requirements of Article 1080.03 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. The Contractor shall lightly compact the finished riprap to ensure interlocking of the material after placement. Any low or high spots shall be addressed/removed. The Contractor shall take great caution when working in the vicinity of the existing/proposed sanitary sewers. Crane mats and plating shall be used to provide sufficient load bearing overtop of the existing sanitary sewers to prevent damage to or settling of the existing pipes. Method of Measurement. This work will be measured in place and the area computed in square yards. The buried edges of fabric will not be measured for payment and the overlap at joints and seams will be measured as a single lift of material. Basis of Payment. This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per square yard for STONE RIPRAP, CLASS B3 AND FILTER FABRIC. 2.5 EROSION CONTROL BLANKET 2.6 TURF REINFORCEMENT MAT Description. This work shall consist of the installation of erosion control blanket and turf reinforcement mat over seeded areas. Turf reinforcement mat should be Vmax SC250 or equivalent. Turf reinforcement mat shall be installed 8’ wide along the centerline of the ditch. Construction. This work will be performed in accordance with Articles 251.04 and 251.05 of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, the applicable Illinois Urban Manual Standard Drawings, and the manufacturer’s recommendations. Erosion control blanket shall be excelsior blanket or knitted straw mat meeting the requirements of Articles 1081.10(a) and (b) of the Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction. Turf reinforcement mat shall meet the requirements of Article 1081.10(g) of the Standard Specification for Road and Bridge Construction. Method of Measurement. This work will be measured for payment in place and the area computed in square yards. Basis of Payment. This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per square yard for EROSION CONTROL BLANKET and TURF REINFORCEMENT MAT. 2.7 PARKWAY RESTORATION. Description. This work shall conform to Section 250 of the Standard Specifications and consist of repairing disturbed areas. Construction. The Contractor shall seed all disturbed areas within the project limits. Seeding Class 4 or 2A shall be used, except in front of properties where the grass will be mowed, then use Seeding, Class 1A. Class 2A shall be used on front slopes and ditch bottoms. Class 4 shall be used behind Type A gutter, on all backslopes and areas behind the backslope, and beyond the toe of front slope on fill sections without ditches. Fertilizer shall be applied to all disturbed areas and incorporated into the seedbed prior to seeding or placement of sod at the rate specified in Sections 250 and 252 of the Standard Specifications. Erosion control blankets must be installed at all disturbed areas and meet with the requirements of Article 1081.10 of the standard Specifications. Any water service boxes in parkway areas to be restored must be adjusted to the proper height prior to seeding. Contractor must contact the owner prior to parkway restoration if a valve box is not adjustable or is broken. If replacement parts are required, contractor shall contact owner for supply of new parts. Guarantee. All seeded areas shall be maintained for at least 30 days after application. Seeding that is required by the Owner after October 10 must meet the following guarantee the following spring. Scattered bare spots no larger than 0.25 square feet (6” X 6”) will be allowed up to a maximum of 5% of any seeded area including 30 day maintenance and mowing. Method of Measurement. This work will be measured for payment as one single Lump Sum. Contractor acknowledges that the nature of this project requires varying scopes of work at many locations throughout a large area. As such, no additional payment will be made on this lump sum item for any location additions or deletions or changes in scope of work at any particular location. Basis of Payment. This work will be paid for at the contract unit price per lump sum for PARKWAY RESTORATION. 2.8 TRAFFIC CONTROL AND PROTECTION, SPECIAL Description. This work shall consist of furnishing, installing, maintaining, relocating, and removing work zone traffic control and protection in accordance with Section 701 of the Standard Specifications and the standard details shown in the plans. Equipment. This includes all signs, signals, temporary pavement markings, other required traffic control markings, barricades, warning lights, and other devices which are to be used to regulate, warn or guide traffic during construction of this improvement in addition to Article 701.03 of the Standard Specifications. General. All work shall be in conformance with the current edition of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices for Street and Highways. MBE/WBE Goals. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
