The City of Laguna Beach is seeking proposals from qualified proposers interested in implementing a 2.5 acre wildland mitigation program. The City maintains an extensive network of fuel modification zones (FMZ) around exterior portions of the City and in many interior canyons. Vegetation is reduced within FMZs to help slow the spread of wildfire around neighborhoods adjacent to the wildland areas. The objective of the City’s Fuel Modification program is to achieve a reduction in potential wildfire fire line intensity by reducing fuel sources. Reducing fire line intensity can slow the pace of a fire which provides fire personnel with valuable time to deploy resources to the fire.
