The San Mateo County Transit District (District or Agency) is requesting proposals from qualified planning and design contractor firms for services in support of the Dumbarton West Busway Corridor Project (Project) through the development of a Busway Feasibility Study. The District is seeking a motivated Contractor that can take on a fast-paced project schedule of 18 months, given that the District is aiming to construct this project in or before 2030. The Busway Feasibility Study (Study) will assess feasibility of constructing a dedicated busway along five miles of the Dumbarton Rail Corridor as its primary goal and explore opportunities to enhance bicycle and pedestrian connections along or across the corridor, including the potential for a multi-use trail, as well as improvements to safety at seven at-grade railroad crossings. The Contractor will explore various busway operating scenarios, as well as the potential of running Zero-Emission Buses (ZEB) on the Corridor. The Study is intended to assess the feasibility of these near- or mid-term improvements while not precluding future rail service by preserving the existing tracks and a portion of the right-of-way.
