The City’s recent Local Road Safety Plan (LRSP) identified challenge areas of pedestrian, bicycles, and intersections with a goal to improve safety around the schools. The project area was identified as a priority in the LRSP and public comments, due to the number of pedestrians and bicyclists crossing in the area, to and from the high school and elementary schools located northeast of the intersection. In addition, there is a bicycle/pedestrian path on the north leg of Johnson Street that connects to Lupine Road and several neighborhoods. This area is a priority for the city in proactively improving safety and using a Safe System Approach. The City applied for and received a Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grant included as an Attachment. Prevailing wages.
