Many of the campus flat roofs lack engineered fall prevention systems that meet OSHA standards and instead rely on personal protective equipment (PPE), training, and administrative controls to prevent unsafe conditions and fall hazards. The rooftops at Engineering Center have critical exhaust fans and HVAC systems that require ongoing maintenance and repair that always occur and during all weather conditions. To address the issue, CU Boulder engaged the services of a safety consultant company to do an initial evaluation and provide solution options. The solutions offered will provide proper fall hazard mitigation and safe access. Scope of Services To install fall protection at Engineering Center: - Install fixed guards - Install Ballasted guards - Remove horizontal lifeline - Install new ladder/stair Bonds required.
