The redesign will generally include a full ROW reconstruction including roadway section, Curb and gutter, sidewalk, asphalt parking area, storm sewer installation, Rio Grande Trail connection improvements, handicapped ramps installed per code, sections of milling and overlays as appropriate, waterline installation, street lighting, signing, striping, vegetation restoration where applicable, and provide a better pedestrian experience through this corridor. Currently the roadway is a narrow two-lane failing asphalt road between the high school’s track fencing and the RFTA rail corridor ROW. There is no drainage system to speak of, no curb and gutter and no pedestrian walkway to access from Park Drive to the 14th and Pitkin Avenue intersection. This project is set for a tight timeline so that it can still be bid for construction in the late spring of 2025. The city will clear ice and snow along the corridor as needed to complete the survey.
