The Museum of the Everglades experienced damages from Hurricane Ian. These damages resulted from high winds and flooding/storm surge and need to be repaired. Replace approximately 250 LF of electrical system conduit and wiring in crawlspace under building. Replace in-kind all electrical wiring, conduit, and components that was exposed to the storm surge up to the next junction box. Safely remove the damaged or deteriorated electrical system conduit and wiring from the crawl space, taking care to avoid damage to other building components or utilities. Disconnect and remove any electrical fixtures, outlets, switches, or devices connected to the existing conduit and wiring as necessary. Install approximately 250 LF of new conduit as PVC per CCVS, hangers, and wiring in the crawl space, and all components, routing them along designated pathways and securing them to structural elements or supports as needed per CCVS. Use appropriate fittings, connectors, and fasteners to ensure a secure and water tight installation of the conduit and wiring. Reconnect electrical fixtures, outlets, switches, and devices to the new conduit and wiring, ensuring proper alignment and secure attachment. Test each electrical circuit to verify proper functionality and continuity, addressing any issues or deficiencies as needed to ensure compliance with safety standards. Verify proper grounding, insulation, and circuit protection measures are in place to mitigate the risk of electrical hazards or malfunctions. Prepare application documents, submit for and obtain all permits as necessary. •Insulation and Vapor Barrier o Replace approximately 2,800 SF of waterproof polyurethane foam insulation on the bottom of the building. Install a minimum 10-millimeter vapor barrier to be taped at all joints and provide a full vapor barrier along the bottom of the building. Remove the existing insulation that was damaged by storm surge, without damaging any of the building components. Remove existing foam and replace insulation with a moisture resistant 2-inch deep rigid foam board insulation (poly iso or XPS) to cover the building underside completely, per manufacturer’s recommendations and best practices. Install the vapor barrier per manufacturer’s instructions to make a seal along the building base. Note: Vaper barrier and foam shall be attached in a manner easily removed in the case of a flooding/storm surge to allow flooring to dry out. Replace Wood fence; dog-eared, approximately 5.5 IN wide lumber slats, for an approximately 80 FT long x 6 FT high damaged section. Remove and dispose of existing fence slats. Ensure that the replacement lumber is pressure-treated or otherwise treated for outdoor use to resist decay, rot, and insect damage. Secure the dog-eared lumber slats to the fence posts using appropriate fasteners ensuring a tight and secure fit. Ensure that the replacement slats are installed with consistent spacing and alignment to create a uniform and visually appealing fence. Replace one (1) each of Treated lumber Post; 4” x 4” (6 FT exposed), 8 FT long. Install the new treated lumber post in the designated location, ensuring that it is plumb, level, and properly aligned with adjacent structures. Secure the replacement post to its footing or support using appropriate fasteners, such as concrete anchors or lag screws, to ensure stability and structural integrity. Ensure that the exposed portion of the post measures 6 feet above ground level, providing adequate support for the structure above. Unit Price: Curbing Repairs (all inclusive costs for unit price line items): Replace up to 260 linear feet parking stops with Type D curb that surrounds the perimeter of the building. Remove and dispose of the existing parking stops that are tied down with rebar and replace with Type D curb per the latest Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) standards. Move existing gravel for installation as required and reset after new curbing is installed to restore the landscaping. Quantities replaced must be tracked and submitted by unit price for billing. Quantities must be pre-approved in writing prior to install. Unit Price: Replace Damaged Floor Sheathing (all inclusive costs for unit price line items) Include replacement of up to three hundred and twenty (320) square feet of rotted or damaged sheathing with the floor repairs, as it has been exposed to the elements or damaged by storm surge. Reinstall new wood to match existing thickness and components per CCVS. Remove and reset historic pine deck boards, furniture, and components, as required to perform the work. Quantities must be tracked and submitted by unit price for billing. All quantities must be pre-approved in writing prior to order and install. Contractor shall work with museum staff for the relocation of museum gallery exhibits as applicable.
