In 2016, Rowlett Academy purchased the Orange Ridge Bullock Elementary School building and campus from the School District of Manatee County for use as a Middle School Campus. Rowlett Middle Academy (RMA), is a leadership and arts focused school. The classrooms in building 6 are used for our arts programs- art, dance, orchestra, band, chorus, Spanish, PE, and Drama. These rooms were originally designed as special education classes, and as such, are not conducive for the current arts programs. We are seeking an innovative Architect and General Contractor to improve the quality of the instructional space and to update the building. The project scope is: Interior (Please review attached map for locations corresponding to letters A, B, C, D, E, F) A. Remove walls between classrooms (626 and 627, 622 and 623) to create two large spaces for band and orchestra. Remove walls surrounding 2 closets in chorus room 616 to expand classroom. B. Add 2 walls outside room 616 with new entry door. C. Soundproof walls between music classrooms. D. Build one (1) accessible unisex student restroom in band room. E. Extend art room (614) west under existing roof overhang with a 21’X15’ expansion. F. Construction of 3 storage closets on the interior of the building outside rooms 621 and 622. G. Remove acoustical ceiling in all rooms and replaced with new, with music rooms converted to open soundproofed ceiling systems with reused main ductwork, new branch ductwork, painted structure, and new LED pendant lighting. H. New interior paint, flooring, cabinetry typical , and storage solutions for each classroom. I. Replace all existing lighting with LED. J. Install backbone conduits in the walls and device boxes/plates for multimedia system by owner to view, play, and record in chorus, orchestra, and band rooms. K. Ensure interior doors to and between classrooms meet a sound transmission class rating of 45. L. New interior paint and flooring in all front offices in the building. Exterior 1. Correct all water intrusion issues at exterior doors. 2. Repair any roof leaks and damaged roofing material. 3. Removal of the electric sliding entrance door and replace it with a framed double steel door with glass, panic bars, and a removable mullion bar. Access control similar to main office entryway in Building 1.
