The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) seeks to obtain competitive pricing for selective mechanical treatment of dense saw palmetto, wax myrtle, gallberry, and other vegetation per the specifications contained herein. The total project area may include up to 200 acres of vegetation annually, as identified by FWC, within the J. W. Corbett Wildlife Management Area (Corbett WMA) located in northern Palm Beach County (see Figures 1, 2, and 3). Road shoulder mechanical treatment is typically less than 2 miles per treatment and only occurs as needed. Annual acreage and locations of mechanical vegetation treatment within Corbett WMA will be determined based on funding availability and hydrological conditions. FWC reserves the right to increase or decrease the project size and treatment location based on budget, bid price, and habitat conditions. Project sites are in natural areas, composed mainly of pine flatwoods interspersed with wet prairies and freshwater marshes, and the shoulder of the public access road through the area. Access to the project sites may require specialized off-road equipment. Prior to treatment, the Contractor and the FWC Project Manager will visit and discuss the project area, the goals of the operation, specific effects to avoid, and execution of the project. FWC reserves the right to change treatment location and project size if the ground is or becomes saturated. The Contractor shall mechanically treat designated vegetation at designated sites as instructed by the FWC Project Manager. The focus of mechanical treatment will be on areas with high densities of saw palmetto, primarily in pine flatwood habitats. Ground disturbance shall be minimized to the greatest extent possible.
