The Utility Systems Department (USD) of the City of Port St. Lucie is dedicated to delivering exceptional service and high-quality water and wastewater services to its residents. In alignment with this objective, the USD seeks to procure a new float switch that offers improved efficiency and durability. The desired float switch should feature a mercury switch that activates when the switch slightly tilts above the horizontal position to indicate a high level and deactivates when it drops below the horizontal position. Additionally, the float should be equipped with a flexible 18-gauge 30-foot cable, consisting of 2 conductors (UL, CSA) SJO, and be weather and water-resistant (CPE). Each float should be housed in high-impact, corrosion- resistant Polypropylene material suitable for sewage and non-potable water applications up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius). Mini Floats – Part # SMI30NO Technical Specifications: • Mercury-activated, narrow-angle float switch designed to activate pump control panels and alarms. • Normally open model (high level) operation – the control switch turns on (closes) when the switch tips slightly above horizontal signaling a high level and turns off (opens) when the switch drops slightly below horizontal. • UL listed for use in non-potable water & sewage, CSA Certified. • Flexible 18-guage 30-foot cable, 2 conductors (UL, CSA) SJO, weather and water-resistant. • Float size: 2 7/8-inch diameter x 4 1/2-inch long, high impact, corrosion resistant, Polypropylene housing for use in sewage and non-potable water up to 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius). • Mercury Tilt Switch – single pole, single throw, mercury-to-mercury contacts, hermetically sealed in a steel capsule and epoxy sealed in the float housing. • Electrical: 4.5-amp, 120 VAC, 50/60 Hz. • Internally Weighted: for applications where the switch can be suspended from above. • Float packaging: individually boxed & includes all shipping charges. • Minimum 2-year limited warranty, Contractor is responsible for all shipping charges pertaining to the pick up and return of the warranty floats.
