This project, located in Frederick County, is for the replacement of Bridge No. 1005400 on MD 77 over Beaver Creek. The project will also include replacement of Small Structure No. 10085X0 on MD 77 over a drainage ditch. The roadway profile will be raised by approximately 2 feet at the roadway sump. This will require approximately 600 feet of roadway reconstruction to tie the wider and higher bridge section back into the existing roadway. The project will also include landscaping on-site along MD 77 and off-site at the US 15/Monocacy Boulevard interchange, as well as erosion and sediment controls. Existing Bridge No. 1005400 consists of two, simply supported 28’+ spans supported by reinforced concrete beams. The superstructure has an out-to-out width of 26’-6”+ and is supported by two concrete abutments and one concrete pier founded on spread footings on rock. The proposed bridge consists of a single 74’-0” span supported by galvanized steel girders. The superstructure has an out-to-out width of 33’-0 ½” and is supported by two reinforced concrete abutments, one founded on a spread footing on rock and the other on H-piles drilled into rock. Existing Small Structure No. 10085X0 was built in an unknown year and consists of 4’+ wide, 66’+ long reinforced concrete slab structure and a 4’+ diameter, 10’+ long corrugated metal pipe. The total existing length is 76’+. The proposed small structure consists of a 38” x 60”, 72’-0” long, horizontal elliptical reinforced concrete pipe (HERCP) with an inlet headwall founded on a spread footing on rock. The project will be completed utilizing a full roadway closure. An incentive/disincentive for project completion is included in this project for 215 days. DBE goal 27%. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
