This project, located in Prince George’s County, is for the construction of sidewalk and intersection improvements to improve pedestrian safety along MD 650 (New Hampshire Avenue). The project begins at the MD 193 intersection and extends north to the Montgomery County Line (Northampton Drive) intersection for a total distance of 1.27 miles. The work will consist of the following: a) Realigning the MD 320 (Piney Branch Road) interchange, including new full depth pavement, a roadside ditch, and closed storm-drain systems b) Upgrading pedestrian ramps, median refuges, driveway entrances, and bus stops to meet ADA c) Installing pedestrian median fencing to discourage mid-block crossings d) Cleaning and repairing existing inlets and storm drains e) Upgrading existing traffic signals, including signal phasing changes and APS/CPS f) Installing corridor-wide lighting where necessary g) Installing new pavement markings and ground-mounted signs h) Fine milling and resurfacing where there are proposed pavement marking changes i) Installing compliant traffic barriers and end treatments where existing barriers are impacted by proposed sidewalk or sign improvements. DBE goal 13%. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
