The work consists of maintaining highway vegetation on state highways in District 1, as directed by the Engineer. This work will supplement regular highway grass mowing and weed control performed by Department forces or by others contracted by MasssDOT for such work. The work includes cutting grass and/or weeds by a string trimmer along/under guardrail, barriers and curbs and mowing areas by 6-foot mower, and by over-the-guardrail mower and other tools as specified. The locations on the highway will include, shoulder, median, and cobblestone areas, and areas of difficult terrain such as steep slopes and rocky areas. The work to be performed under this contract will be assigned on an “as needed” basis, as determined by the Engineer. Work under this contract will be required on any or all state highways and roadways within District ONE. Work locations will be within the limits of District ONE on various roadways as assigned by the Engineer.
