The work to be done under this Contract is in the City of Boston and consists of furnishing all labor, materials, equipment, and services, necessary to complete the following: Demolition and replacement of the existing superstructure and rehabilitation of the existing substructure of Bridge B-16-052 (4FE), Bowker Overpass, which carries Charlesgate over Ipswich Street, the MBTA, and I90 EB/WB, rehabilitation of the existing south approach vault substructure and alteration to the existing south approach vault superstructure. Demolition of Bridge B-16-365 (4FD), which carries the Charlesgate off-ramp from the Bowker Overpass to Commonwealth Avenue. Alteration of the existing superstructure of Bridge B-16-365 (4EL), Bowker Viaduct, which carries Charlesgate over the Charlesgate Park. Construction of a new bridge structure B-16-052 (CLH, CM6), which will carry a new connecting ramp from Boylston Street to Charlesgate West over Ipswich Street, the MBTA, I90 EB/WB and a new pedestrian underpass connecting Charlesgate Park to Newbury Street. Demolition of the existing retaining wall along the north Charlesgate on-ramp approach to the Bowker Overpass from Commonwealth Avenue, and construction of new mechanically stabilized earth retaining walls to support the new north approach to Bridge B-16-052 (CLH, CM6). Construction of the north approach roadway and pedestrian paths to the new ramp structure, alteration of the Boylston Street and Charlesgate intersection to accommodate the new ramp structure, other related work on Ipswich Street, I-90, Commonwealth Avenue, and in Charlesgate Park to complete the project. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
