The City of High Point is requesting bids for the painting of poles and pad mounted transformers within the City of High Point electric utility area. Painting will include 16’ town and country fiberglass poles up to 46’aluminum poles, as well as pad mounted transformers. FIBERGLASS POLES Town & country, 16’ overall, direct buried poles including the lights on top of the pole shall be painted. Some fiberglass poles up to 40’ in height with a streetlight may also be included. STEEL OR ALUMINUM POLES Steel and aluminum poles in our system that need painted – the maximum height of these poles is 46 feet tall. Galvanized poles vary in height from 35’ to 46’. TRANSFORMERS All transformers to be painted are pad mounted transformers. SURFACE PREPARATION Poles shall be abrasive blasted. If this is impossible or impractical, vendor shall mechanically clean surface. All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of all contaminants, including salt deposits. M/WBE Goals. Bonds required.
