237990 - Other Heavy and Civil Engineering Construction. The purpose of the project is to prevent streambank erosion at the Greenville Utilities Commission (GUC) Water Treatment Plant (WTP) by installing riprap along 400 linear feet of the east streambank of the Tar River that is adjacent to the Plant’s raw water intake structures. The existing articulated block embankment protection will be removed in areas where the articulated blocks underlays the proposed USACE design, and the streambank will be graded prior to riprap placement. The riprap is to be placed at a 1.5:1 (horizontal to vertical) slope for 400 linear feet. Riprap placed at the toe of the slope will form a platform of launchable stone approximately 8 feet wide with varying thickness. For the upstream end of protection, the riprap shall be keyed into the existing stream bank until the riprap intersects with the existing grade/ground elevation. The riprap shall be placed on top of a filter system that consists of a 6-inch-thick layer of NCDOT No. 4 stone atop non-woven geotextile fabric. Bonds required.
