The City of College Station is soliciting proposal(s) for the development of affordable housing by interested and qualified entities via funding through the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) and/or HOME Investment Partnerships Grant (HOME) Program through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). HOME funding may be used to fund a wide range of activities including building, buying, and/or rehabilitating affordable housing for rent or homeownership or providing direct rental assistance to low-income people. Additionally, CDBG funding may be used to acquire vacant property, acquire property with existing housing units to be rehabilitated, or rehabilitate existing housing units owned by the developer agency. CDBG funds may not be used for new construction. Depending on the funding source, the development of affordable housing could include the development of new affordable housing units for sale or lease to income-qualified households or the acquisition and rehabilitation of affordable housing units for sale or lease to income-qualified households.
