Texas A&M University at Galveston (TAMUG) Phase 2 Dock Improvements Project in preparation for the arrival of a National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV).The Texas A&M Maritime Academy is fourth in line of the six state maritime academies to receive a new National Security Multi-Mission Vessel (NSMV) from the U.S.Department of Transportation Maritime Administration (MARAD) National Defense Reserve fleet to serve as a training vessel. The Proposed Action will allow TAMUG to integrate the NSMV into their academic programs and improve energy efficiency and coastal resiliency.The Proposed Action is intended to prepare for the vessel and its more modern services and systems, and modifications of the TAMUG Campus are necessary. The 524-foot state- of-the-art ship will feature instructional spaces,a full training bridge and space for up to 600 cadets to train at sea. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
