The intent of this project is to dredge and retrofit Ashby Pond. Ashby Pond is a stormwater management pond in the Little River Hills subdivision. This project will involve removing, hauling, and disposing accumulated sediment from the pond, restoring two inflow channels, and converting this facility to a level 1 wet pond by constructing two sediment forebays and an aquatic bench. The project will also involve replacing the existing mulch trail with a grass and gravel trail constructed with erosion control grid, raising sanitary sewer manhole covers above flood elevation, restoring the site, and implementing the landscaping plan. The city has obtained all required state and federal permitting, temporary construction easements on private property, and plan approval. A third party firm will provide construction management and inspection services for the city. This project will provide pollutant reduction credits towards the city's Accotink Creek and Chesapeake Bay TMDLs. The city intends to pave Estel Rd and Ashby Rd after this project is complete. Bonds required.
