This project includes construction of an in-river park and shoreline facilities on the Roanoke River through Wasena Park in the City of Roanoke. Upland activity includes ADA compatible sidewalks, kayak storage areas, gathering spaces with boulder borders, boulder steps to access the river, turnouts from the Greenway, and concrete stairs. In-stream activities include the installation of boulder edge toe protection along the river, pedestrian access launches and take-outs for kayakers and tubers, a variety of in-river structures, and rock deflectors. The Project is broken into six separate and distinct locations along the river (Sites A-F) stretching from under Memorial Bridge on Memorial Avenue to just upstream of the low water bridge located near the intersection of Wiley Drive and Winona Ave. Bonds required.
