The purpose of this project is to stabilize the exterior of the historic Phoenix Bank building located at 341 East Washington Street, Suffolk, VA. The work entails masonry restoration work to the Washington Street façade including patching, repairing, replacing, repointing, and cleaning aggregate faced concrete masonry units; precast lintel replacement; window replacement; and the restoration and reconstruction of the historic storefront. The work on the remaining elevations entails restoration of brick masonry including reconstructing brick arches, repointing and cleaning brick masonry; new exterior doors; and providing window protection. The Phoenix Bank is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register and is a contributing structure to the East Washington Street Historic District. All work shall be in compliance with the pertinent standards and guidelines of the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for the Treatment of Historic Properties. Bonds required.
