In an effort to protect and restore salmon and trout runs, a federal court injunction requires WSDOT to significantly increase the efforts to remove state owned culverts that block habitat for salmon and trout. This project will replace 12 existing fish barrier crossings on SR112 in Clallam County with fish passable structures (buried structures and bridges) in compliance with the Federal Injunction regarding fish passage underneath WSDOT highways. The project will also conduct Adaptive Management to a previously completed fish passable facility. This project will be delivered in the Design-Build delivery method. This work will increase fish migration at stream crossings along SR112 to allow migratory salmon and trout to access their native spawning grounds. The project is funded with state funds. The RFQ is scheduled to be advertised on June 24, 2024. LOCATION AND SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF WORK: This project will remove existing barriers to fish migration at the following SR 112 stream crossings and replace with fish-passable structures: Clallam County: A.
