Contractor to remove and salvage approximately 40 damaged fender piles and 2 fender pile stubs then place them on the dock for removal by Port labor. Port labor will disconnect from the pierface the damaged fender piles prior to Contractor removal. The Contractor will also drive approximately 47 Douglas-fir piles (which will be provided by the Port), with a minimum 16-inch minimum diameter 3 feet from the butt and an 8-inch minimum diameter at the tip. Approximately 14 piles will be 95-feet in length at Berths 1, 2, and 4 approximately 35 piles will be 90-feet in length at Berths 6 and 7, and approximately 8 piles will be 85-feet in length at Berth 5 and the Roro Dock. The installed fender piles shall be driven to a minimum 15-foot depth of penetration, and tied back to the pierface with a #9 swifter wire. If the fender pile meets with excessive resistance, the Contractor shall immediately notify the Engineer in writing and the Engineer may determine necessary depth of penetration. Port labor will follow immediately behind the Contractor to connect the newly driven fender pile to the pierface. The Contractor shall be responsible for furnishing all other materials, labor, tools, equipment, and supervision necessary to perform this work as specified Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
