238320 - Painting and Wall Covering Contractors. a) Furnish all necessary labor, material, equipment, transportation, and services to perform the following items of work. b) Pressure wash all metal building surfaces and paint exterior metal surfaces on the Power Service Building. c) Clean and prepare all metal surfaces to include metal siding, metal trim, metal canopies, metal columns and beams, metal handrails, metal doors and frames, gutters, downspouts scuppers, metal exterior wall panels, steel vault covers. d) All metal surfaces shall be prepared as required for the final coat of paint to bond to the existing building materials for a minimum of 15 years. e) In the preparation of metal surfaces for application of the final coat, all loose paint shall be removed, and all areas of oxidation shall be cleaned, and a primer shall be applied as specified. f) Inspect all metal siding and metal gutters and downspouts for damages and holes, patch and repair surfaces to make watertight. g) Color of paint to be selected by FAA from manufacture's standard selection of colors. h) All paint materials to be used on this project shall be of low or no odor, Exterior, alkyd (oil base) paint. i) All paint to be applied by spray only. j) Submit a painting control plan for approval by FAA prior to beginning any painting operations. k) Remove existing building signs in order to paint the exterior metal surfaces. l) Reinstall existing building signs after all painting operations have been completed. m) Encapsulate lead paint on area (identified on drawing) with water based polymer coating. n) Apply two coats of primer, followed by two coats of paint to all walls on the exterior of the power services building. The exit doors, garage doors, and cross metal plating will be excluded and must be mitigated. Avoid all electrical equipment including surveillance cameras. o) There is a total of 18,882 sq. ft. of area that must be painted on the exterior of the overall building. p) During painting operations shut off all fresh air intakes to prevent paint fumes from getting into the building. q) Make preparations to add controls, barriers and or barricades in order to prevent over spraying on the adjacent structures, ground, FAA employees and their vehicles from being damaged by over spraying during the painting operations Bonds required.
