– New Expressway (Stage 2b) Project is the fourth stage of the SR 167 Completion Project, located in Pierce County in the cities of Puyallup, Fife, Milton, Tacoma, the Puyallup Tribe of Indians reservation, and portions of unincorporated Pierce County. Project improvements include, but are not limited to, construction of the following: • Construction of a new approximately 2.6-mile SR 167 Expressway between I-5 and the Puyallup Recreation Center vicinity, including interchanges. • Construction of eight new bridges including a SR 167 bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks. • Completion of the new I-5/SR 167 diverging diamond interchange (DDI) including a southbound I-5 auxiliary lane to 54th Avenue East. • Construction of a half interchange at Valley Avenue East. • Completion of the new DDI at SR 167/SR 161/North Meridian. • Completion of the final configuration of SR 167 between the Puyallup Recreation Center vicinity and SR 410. • Widening and reconfiguration of local roads and intersections. • Removing a fish barrier culvert on Lower Wapato Creek near SR 509 and Alexander Avenue East and construction of a new Tacoma Rail bridge over Wapato Creek. • Rebuilding an at-grade UPRR crossing at Freeman Road East. • Construction of a portion of the spuyaləpabš Trail. • Construction of a new Washington State Patrol weigh-in motion system and weigh station inspection facility for northbound SR 167. • Construction of two toll points on SR 167 (one in each direction) between 26th Street East and Valley Avenue East • Construction of approximately 90 acres of wetland mitigation in the Wapato Basin and Puyallup River Basin, including the Wapato Creek riparian restoration program. • Construction of stormwater treatment facilities, including detention ponds and constructed wetlands. • Relocating and protecting utilities in place.
