This contract provides for removal of old paint from Stokely Tower, including all applicable lead abatement protocols for removal and disposal of lead-bearing paint dust; full repainting of the exterior of the tower, including City of Mount Vernon logo; removal and reinstallation of existing conduits and inactive radio equipment as necessary to complete the Work; and all related Work. The City of Mount Vernon’s Stokely Tower, built in 1930, is no longer in service as potable water storage but is being maintained as a City landmark. It is an elevated, riveted-steel 50,000-gallon tank located near the intersection of S 1st Street and Milwaukee Street – Address of 1018 South 1st Street Mount Vernon, WA 98273. The tank is approximately 135 feet tall from finished grade to top of roof and supported on four legs. Its shell is approximately 19 feet in diameter and an estimated 17 feet tall from the base of the half-dome to top of roof. Each of its four legs is supported on a concrete pier footing and anchored in place with a single anchor bolt. The legs are braced at approximately 30 feet and 60 feet above finished grade and have an approximate outside diameter at the bottom of the legs of 39 feet. The tank was reinforced in 2023 with foundation caps at each pier footing. Bonds required. Prevailing wages.
