The West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways (DOH) invites bids for The Jug Structure project in Tyler County, Rt 46/1. WVDOT has proposed to raise a low water crossing across Middle Island Creek in Tyler County along West Virginia County Route No. 46/1 near the town of Middlebourne. The new crossing will be built on top of the existing crossing. Along with a new crossing, concrete steps will be installed on the downstream side to prevent erosion of the existing creek bed and provide a rock buttress for the proposed crossing. A canoe/kayak access will also be installed in this project to provide access to the “The Jug Handle” on Middle Island Creek. The total length of the project is approximately 482‐feet while the crossing upgrade length is approximately 178‐feet. The out‐to‐out width of the low water crossing will be 16 feet and 6 inches. The structure is to be made of reinforced concrete and keyed into the existing crossing with steel dowels. The footprint of the project construction area is 0.8235 acres. Bonds required.
